I’ve been an athlete all my life, but it’s only as I grew up that I added some credentials to my passion. As a running back playing college football, I was a 4-time All-American, 3-time National Champion, and 3-time Academic All-American. After suffering a season-ending knee injury my senior year, I came back to perform well for NFL scouts and sign a contract with the San Diego Chargers.
I spent a short time with the Chargers and then moved on to graduate school at Duke University–pursuing my passion for science and the human body with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
My road to the NFL was a great learning experience in physical fitness and human performance. I’ve trained with everyone from first-time exercisers to Olympic medalists, and after a decade of being a trainee and trainer, I started to help friends and family reach their fitness goals. That’s where I ran into a couple key problems:
- Much of the exercise and nutrition information out there is pure garbage. Everything is trying to sell you something or just sound sensational to get attention.
- Many people believe that garbage. For the average person, it’s difficult and time consuming to sift through the clutter and separate the facts from the hype.
- Every motivated individual has the ability to get into great shape if they have access to quality, science-based information and an effective workout program.
So I decided to start 507 Fitness as a source for fitness information, quality workouts, and wellness advice.
Since truth is my first priority, I construct every workout using proven exercise principles combined with my experiences training at the elite level. There is no easy button—the workouts are tough—but that’s what it takes to achieve excellence.
I hope you enjoy the site, but even more importantly I hope you use the resources to your advantage.
